Susquehanna Predictions, a leading liquidity provider in prediction markets, today announced the launch of Predictions Cup, a free-to-enter global simulated trading competition. The competition will give eligible university students the opportunity to put their market instincts to the test around one of the year’s most closely watched events: the U.S. midterm elections.
Running from October 1 through November 4, 2026, the inaugural Predictions Cup will challenge students to turn their forecasts of unfolding political events into simulated trades. Each participant will begin with 100,000 SUSQies, a non-monetary, competition-specific currency that serves as both simulated trading capital and the competition’s scorekeeping mechanism.
As election narratives shift, new polling emerges, and market prices move, participants will have the opportunity to rethink their positions and make new trades. A continuously updated leaderboard will show how they stack up against students around the world, adding a competitive element to the real-time decision-making at the heart of prediction markets.
At the conclusion of the competition, the eligible participants with the highest SUSQies balances will receive cash prizes (where permitted by law), including $30,000 for first place.
Predictions Cup also reflects Susquehanna’s longstanding interest in finding people who are naturally drawn to markets, probability, and competitive problem-solving. Through the competition, Susquehanna hopes to introduce more students to prediction markets while connecting with talented participants who demonstrate the curiosity, judgment, and analytical thinking that are central to the firm’s approach.
“At Susquehanna, we believe prediction markets have the potential to change how people think about and manage event-driven risk,” said Ric Best, Co-Head of Prediction Markets at Susquehanna Predictions. “Predictions Cup gives students an opportunity to experience how these markets work firsthand and see how information and changing probabilities translate into market prices. We are excited to see how participants approach the competition and build their understanding of prediction markets without committing their own capital.”
For Susquehanna’s campus recruiting team, Predictions Cup also opens a new channel for reaching students. Trading competitions have long been part of how Susquehanna identifies students with an aptitude for probabilistic thinking, and Predictions Cup extends that approach to a broader, global pool of participants who may not otherwise encounter the firm through traditional recruiting channels.
“Predictions Cup allows us to meet students where their curiosity already lives while creating a meaningful new way for us to recognize potential beyond what can be captured in a resume or traditional interview,” said Lauren Laver, Head of Campus Recruiting at Susquehanna. “The competition offers insight into how students approach unfamiliar problems and exercise judgment under pressure, helping us identify individuals whose ways of thinking align with how we operate at Susquehanna.”
Predictions Cup is sponsored by Susquehanna International Group, LLP. Participation is limited to eligible students currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD program, or the local academic equivalent, who reside in an eligible geographic region, and are at least 18 years old or otherwise legally recognized as an adult in their jurisdiction of residence. Full eligibility requirements and competition terms can be found in the event’s Official Rules.
Predictions Cup is designed to evolve over time, with future competitions expected to feature new markets and themes spanning major events including elections, earnings, sports, and culture.
